WHO

NEWS

The new 60,000 sq. ft. Technology Building will house the only full service television station at a community college in the South Bay, HCTV Channel 27. The College's Administration of Justice Program will have a new home in the Technology Building. The building will also provide training rooms for the Transportation Security Administration (TSA)'s Flight Crew Program.

The new Technology Building is one of many environmentally responsible structures the Los Angeles Community College District plans to build at each of its nine colleges. This building will be built to LEED certification standards as developed by the U.S. Green Building Council.

The ceremony will also celebrate the official ground breaking for the College's new Central Plant, a one-story, 6,000 sq. ft. facility that will supply backup power and chilled water for the entire campus.

BACKGROUND

The Los Angeles Community College District’s construction and modernization projects receive funding from Propositions A/AA, two bond measures overwhelmingly approved by Los Angeles voters in 2001 and 2003. Propositions A/AA are providing more than $2.2 billion for new construction and renovations at LACCD's nine colleges.
